vacation suggestions?

So I am planning an actual vacation in August with one of my very bestest friends. And her 4 year old son.

Our original plan was to take Skybus somewhere for cheap. That's not happening now, so we're looking at alternative options.

Preferably spots we can drive to within 8 or 9 hours, or even less. (Remember - there will be a 4 year old in the car). We're leaving from C-bus. We'd like a beach. I'd like more of a city than country.

And I'm ready for your suggestions...

I'm finally back from my whirlwind tour around the States. In the month of February I travelled to & from:

Cincinnati, Ohio (twice)
Florence/Newport, Kentucky (twice)
Dallas, Texas
Williamsburg/Newport News, Virginia

All of the trips were work-related so it's not like I had the opportunity to just relax and chill. Now I need a vacation from all my travels.

Anyways, I'm back and ready to resume my challenge of blogging every day for a month. I built in the week I would be internet-less, so March 23 is my last required day of blogging. The overall goal is to make my blogging much more regular, which I think will work - once I got into the habit pre-internet-less week, it was pretty easy.

the state's newest notary public

*(Ok, possibly not THE newest, but in the top 50 newest, at least)

Today I officially became a notary public. I sort of had to do it for my job. I don't know why anyone would bother with it if they didn't have a job that required/benefited from the position. The maximum fees you can charge are $2.00, so it's not like you could have this fabulous business as a career notary.

I leave tonight for Cincinnati. I have 3 days of "development" training for work. This whole month is crazy with travel and other commitments - I cannot wait until March.
